Hello Miss Italy!
Back in Palermo from Paris, Viola is looking for her father for a very important reason. Her new job as a crime reporter will introduce her to the charming and determined Chief Inspector Demir.
The first chapter of episode one of Viola Come il Mare begins with Viola Vitale’s flashback inside the NMR tunnel for a screen after a momentary paralysis on her legs caused by her neuro-degenerative disease.

“Here the world is white, a strange nemesis for someone who sees life in color, white for me does not exist, it is the light before you are born or the light after you are dead. Am I being reborn or am I dying?”
48 hours earlier she had arrived in Palermo from Paris, in search of her father, the only one who can help her to know the genetic reasons for her illness and find a therapy to save herself.
“For sure I had come to Palermo to live, but I instantly realized that I was in danger of dying there. First for the heat, then for the traffic, and finally for the worst thing: the bureaucracy.
Viola is able to see the emotions of the people through the color of their aura and in this case, at the desk of the motorization office while she’s asking for information about her father to trace his identity through the license plate of his car, she manages to clearly see the employee’s hypocrisy and her total disinterest and hassle.
Viola full of hope shows a photo of her father with his orange volkswagen beetle, this is the only image she has of him and was taken the day she was conceived.
No, I haven’t exaggerated speaking of death, since finding my father is the only chance I have to heal, that’s why I’m here in Palermo, a city that invades you with its noises, colors, scents where people’s emotions overwhelm you, even when you do not want to. In this city anything can happen and who knows what awaits me.
The first appearance of Francesco Demir is on mobile phone “very serious” he gets fast on his motorbike running away at full speed scaring Viola on the street and making her slip into a tub full of water.

Stopping in a bar on the seafront to clean her dress and drink a coffee, she meets the owners, two sisters, Silvia and Fiorella, the protagonists of the first case.

Silvia has a bright aura of happiness, she is smiling and friendly, while the arrival of a strange man worries Fiorella, who pours the coffee on Viola’s arm. Due to her pathology, she feels neither heat nor cold on her skin, but sensing the girls’ fear, she jumps ready to leave.
Silvia asks her sister to take Viola to change her dress in the back while she talks to the man. Fiorella gives Viola a t-shirt but in the meantime they hear Silvia yelling at the man to go away or she would have called the police.
When they come out they hear him scream “Wasn’t what happened 15 years ago enough for you? Everyone needs a protection.” Silvia replies “Yes, from those like you, go away and never let yourself be seen here again” the man walks away vowing to return.
Viola while asking for explanations about what had happened, receives a phone call from the Director of the SicilyWebNews editorial office who reminds her that they have an appointment. Viola runs into the editorial office that is right there in front of the Bar, for the job interview. In the editorial office, the group of young journalists, seeing her so beautiful, they make no secret of their prejudices commenting on her physical appearance.
The director, who wants to be called by her title, turns to Viola calling her “Miss Italy, right?”
Viola introduces herself but the Director is very unfriendly, she comments on the lipstick, saying that they are not used to that style and that they don’t like tricks of any kind.

The interview continues with Viola who visualizes the contempt with which her CV is read, “Marketing of big fashion houses, press office of luxury companies” but Viola’s dream, however, is to become a reporter, discover the hidden truths, but she doesn’t seem to have the experience of dealing with crime investigations, for that she is accused of being a recommended who was chosen by the editorial group to which that editorial team is part just for her appearance and lipstick.
Viola is sent to Tamara nicknamed Pinnica because she falls asleep everywhere, who has to take her to the place of her first service and it is Mario Rizzo, from the crime news, who introduces himself and offers to help her.

The meeting with Tamara is very fast, she throws her the keys of the service car telling her that she does not like to work and leaves with her vespa, giving her just an appointment in the meeting street but Viola, exiting the Garage, hears a blow in front of the car and finds Silvia’s bloody corpse under her wheels.

Francesco Demir and his assistant Turi arrive at the scene of the crime, they meet Viola taking her to the police station where her alcohol test is negative. The Inspector Demir asks Viola if while she was driving she was looking in the mirror to put on her lipstick, thus investing the girl but she explains that she has been using that long-lasting French lipstick for 15 years, which she wears in the morning and is perfect until the evening , showing that she did not need to look down or the mirror to put it on, that it was the sun for a moment that dazzled her vision, but her impression was that the girl was already on the ground and that maybe it was someone else who hit her, revealing that she saw her arguing with a guy in the morning. Demir tells her that it’s not possible and Turi explains to Viola that she will be accused of negligent homicide. Viola begins to cry, Demir hands her a handkerchief and tells her that he is sorry but inviting her to go, without leaving the city waiting for the lawsuit.
Viola goes to the editorial office, the Director very angry fires her, screaming to not show herself there again.

Viola decides to go to Fiorella’s Bar, to find out who was the guy with whom her sister was fighting that morning but she yells at her to go away.
At this point, very distraught Viola sits on a bench in front of the editorial office, where journalist Mario Rizzo joins her. Observing him she visualizes the feeling of “shame” thinking it was because he had to interview her about the murder. She tells him not to worry, that was his job and that she did a search too discovering that 15 years ago a robber had murdered the girls’ parents in front of their eyes, but he had never been found.
Viola highlights how Silvia was such a bright color despite having suffered such a serious loss and asks if he had ever known her. Mario denies, saying that he had never been to the girls’ bar, adding that Fiorella attends a bad circle of small crime people. Seeing her sad, he tries to console her by telling that he had a dark period too, in which he spent his days on the bench doing nonsense, reassuring her that being uncensored the things would be resolved, leaving her his phone number saying to call him at any time.
After this long day Viola finally arrives at her hotel overlooking the sea…
“A place where everything is designed to calm you down, where you are alone even in the midst of others, where I am not forced to stop the emotions of others, and I can only think of mine”
Demir is reached by Turi in his office who informs him of the findings of the coroner on the body of Silvia Messina, the girl turns out to have been murdered with a sharp object and died before the investment of the car. Demir calls Viola to inform her about her innocence but she, thinking it was Mario, who had tried to call shortly before without success, tells him that she has seen some photos on social media of Silvia with the same guy she was fighting in the morning, in the meantime Demir had already hung up but Viola looking at the t-shirt resting on her legs, notices the logo of “La Monaca” car repair shop.
Demir and Turi go to the garage and tell to the mechanic that Silvia Messina wanted to report him, that a regular customer of her bar had informed the police that he was bothering her to force her to pay the “pizzo” protection money and that few minutes before she died she had called the police, probably to give his name. He denies to being involved in the murder but the policemen take him away, in the meantime Mario Rizzo is waiting outside and Viola arrives too.

Demir seeing her tells that it is not necessary for her to follow him and that if she wants to go out with him they can simply have a dinner, she rolls her eyes and tells him that the guy she saw arguing with Silvia was that guy, revealing also about the logo on the t-shirt and that she thinks that there was a relationship between them. Demir dismisses her by telling that 2 photos on social media are not enough to confirm a relationship and that this story no longer concerns her, renewing the dinner invitation.
In the meantime, Fiorella arrives and angrily accuses her that it is her fault if the police caught Nicola, screaming that he didn’t kill Silvia, because he had no reason, as she had paid the protection without telling her sister.
Fiorella wants to close the bar and leave, Viola asks her who could have murdered Silvia and Fiorella remembers that one evening she caught her sister looking at the papers on the murder of her parents very shocked.
Turi arrives in Demir’s office, and informs him that they have validated the arrest of Nicola Spano the mechanic, with the accusation of voluntary murder, but Demir is not convinced.
Outside, in the meantime, Viola recognizes the motorcycle that was about to run over her the day before and enters the police station to file a complaint, Demir, coming out, listens to the conversation tells her that it’s his motorbike, that he did not want to run over her and that if he knew it was her, he would surely stop, but he was making an important chase.
PM Santo Buscemi, passing by, listens too the conversation and reproaches Demir because that morning he had taken a personal permit to be able to investigate human trafficking without authorization. He promises him to find a suitable punishment to make him understand that he is doing nonsense while Viola witnesses this reproach with satisfaction.

Viola runs after Demir out of the police station even if he doesn’t really want to talk anymore, but she needs to tell him that Fiorella told her that her sister Silvia had picked up the papers of the murder of her parents, and that this could be important for the investigation. Demir tells her to write down all of the information to discuss it over dinner at his home, Viola replies that this will never happen because she is too beautiful and intelligent to have dinner with someone who deals with road accidents so he goes away angry while Turi explains to Viola that the commissioner is an excellent policeman, of a Sicilian mother and a Turkish father. but he’s a nervous guy.
Viola receives a call from the director of Sicilia Web News who asks her to reach “Pinnica” who is waiting for her for a report and try to not kill anyone this time.
Tamara and Viola on a vespa reach the center of Palermo for a report on the “fog”, in the meantime they live the experience of Palermo street food and sit down to get to know each other better, Viola says that she wants to be a journalist to help the people who have taken many blows in life like Silvia and her sister, Tamara comments that Silvia was nice and that at the inauguration they all had indigestion by eating her arancini defining them as the best in Palermo, Viola asks if Mario was there too and when Tamara says yes, she realizes he’s a liar and has something to hide.
Demir and Turi go ahead with their investigations asking for images from the security cameras on the street adjacent to the crime scene.
Viola looks for evidence in the editorial office among Mario’s things and finds a folder with articles on the killing of Silvia and Fiorella’s parents. In the meantime, Turi joins Demir in the gym where he is training, to deliver the key with the camera recordings.
Viola from her hotel continues to investigate on PC, locating the girls ‘parents’ house, when Mario knocks on the door, she accuses him of being a murderer, displaying all the nervousness on his face. She tells him that he had lied about not knowing Silvia and the gardens where he spent her time doing nonsense were those of the Castello della Zisa, right where the girls’ parents lived, 15 years earlier it was a meeting place for junkies and that Silvia had recognized him and picked up the papers to reopen the case. He confesses that years ago they needed money for drugs, that they were stealing, entering the girls ‘house the dog kept barking and he losing control killed the parents in front of the girls’ eyes. Even though he had behaved well in all these years, he knew that sooner or later they would arrest him but it hadn’t happened until that moment, but at the inauguration Silvia, looking into his eyes, recognized him. That morning he had overheard her talking on the phone to the police about a complaint and hit her in the head. Viola tells him that Silvia had not called to report him but Nicola, the mechanic, because he was asking for protection money, to go to the police to tell the truth otherwise she would have done it. Mario says no, he pulls out a knife going towards her but Francesco and Turi enter stop him and arrest him.
Viola and Demir take a walk to the port in the evening, she asks him how he had understood that she was in danger, Francesco confesses that he had asked one of his agents to follow her and that he had understood that it was Mario from the recordings of a camera.
Viola scolds him and he tells her that he feels that she hasn’t told him everything yet, for example, how did she knew that he was the killer, so sitting on a bench Viola explains to him about her illness, synesthesia, and how she perceives people’s emotions through a color, Mario was bright ocher, because he was ashamed then when he was accused he became fluorescent green, it happens to all those who get nervous.
Demir is impressed, but she tells him that it is unenviable, because perceiving the emotions of others means experiencing them on your own skin, anger, pain, joy, is not always pleasant.
Demir says that he barely feels the emotions of others, and would like to feel them even less. Viola then says … like the emotions of the victims of human traffickers? she had heard him with the PM and therefore she had done a search, and read about the investigation with which he got into trouble.
Demir explains that 6 months earlier 300 people were sold right there in Palermo, those people disappeared forever, they found clothes, letters, even a teddy bear, and that’s why he is a policeman because the teddy bears without the children suck.
Viola feels Francesco’s pain very strongly and in that moment she says … luckily I’m not a policeman, Demir looks at her closely and says … no you are not, you are Miss Italy and goes away while she repeats … I’m Viola, Viola.
Viola still half asleep in the hotel the next morning, receives a call from the DMV telling her that there is no orange beetle with that license plate in their system, and there is no way to trace the owner’s name, to stop. Viola hangs up very disappointed and while trying to get out of bed she realizes her legs are paralyzed, terrified and in tears calls the ambulance.
And here’s how I ended up in this white tunnel, it’s an MRI scan, it’s needed to understand how my disease is progressing, I discovered it a few months ago, the day my boyfriend left me and I saw him colorindo. I went to the doctor and he said to me, sit down. I have a neuro degenerative disease, I call it the syndrome of perforated neurons, synaesthesia was the first symptom, then the others came. From a distance I do not see so well, on the skin I do not feel the heat and the cold and as I have just discovered, I get stuck sometimes. Each destroyed neuron takes away a piece of life, pieces of my skills, even of my memories, luckily the important ones are still there, mine childhood in Sicily, the happiness of first loves, the beauty that helps me go away, the betrayals, and the biggest betrayal, that of my body. I see people’s feelings but soon, the one who won’t feel anymore, will be me.
The Doctor “It was a motor block, it is temporary, but it is the sign that her illness, albeit slowly advancing, as they will have explained to you, the only way to understand how it will evolve, is the family history”
Viola says that this is precisely why she is in Palermo, to look for her father whom she never met, because he disappeared before she was born. She was raised by her mother, who was not sick but who passed away two years earlier due to of a stroke. Viola, distraught of having no contacts that can help her. Viola thinks it is useless for her to stay in Palermo and so she would have left for Paris.
Viola goes to Fiorella’s bar to give her t-shirt back and say goodbye. Fiorella confides to her that she has not closed the bar because among her sister’s things she found a diary, where Silvia the last thing she had written was that she had recognized her parents’ killer among the customers, she had seen Mario but had decided to do not look for him so as not to scare her, and she was right because she had always been afraid and now she wanted to be like Silvia, “Free”. because now she knew that bad men can enter through open windows but new friends can also enter, and you cannot give up living just because everything can end overnight.
The next morning in the editorial office everyone comments on Mario’s arrest and how the newspaper must disassociate itself from his person, Viola enters very confident, saying that she has already prepared the press release in which they disassociate themselves from the incident.
“The editorial staff of sicilia web news dissociates itself from its journalist and to underline which side our newspaper is, we have entrusted the role to the woman Mario wanted to kill, our new crime journalist is Viola Vitale.”
What does it mean?
“That the newspaper’s reputation is worth more than your prejudice, and that the best way to make people forget that you didn’t realize you had a killer among your reporters, is to reward me. His potential victim, and I’m not recommended anyway, yes. it is true I won Miss Italy because I am beautiful, and with the prize money I paid for the university, because I am good and if I am here today it is because you are good too, but you are opinionated, unpleasant, snobbish and unbearable, here I will try to make you loveble in my way, ah and you are not a director, you are something more, you are a woman and therefore a femminile Director ……” and okay, so see you tomorrow morning at 8, but know that as soon as I can I will send you away.
Until today I tried to keep everything under control, it was the only way to not be overwhelmed by the emotions of others, abroad it was easy, but here in Palermo, everything is powerful, nature is powerful, art is powerful, but the most powerful thing of all is people’s passions. They still scare me but now, I understood that I have to get in touch with others and face their emotions if I want to live, because that’s what I want, to “live” to meet what life has in store for me.

On the beautiful terrace that overlooks the Cathedral of Palermo, Viola sitting on the swing sees Francesco arrive who, amazed, asks her how she had entered there, Viola explains to him that PM Buscemi helped her to rent the apartment next to that beautiful shared terrace, hinting at a punishment for him, Demir smiles telling her if she was his punishment and sits next to her, Viola overwhelmed by his physicality tells him that the next man she will sleep with will be the one she will marry, if he was willing to marry her…
“I stopped being with the wrong men, the next one will be the one I will marry. You want to marry me? Demir smiles shaking his head.. “Then you will never have me, what you can have is my help , I am the new crime reporter of Sicilia Web News, a friend journalist as you have seen can be useful to you” … Forget it… “Think about it, you just lost your spy, and you realized that synaesthesia can be very useful” Ok, let’s try it but if it doesn’t work, we willstop. In return I want to know something, what color am I? So? “Blue, like all the male chauvinists, egocentric, childish I’ve known in my life” Good night. Lock yourself inside, Palermo is a dangerous city.
Demir leaves in sweet company, while Viola watches him from the terrace…
“Even if what life has in store for me the only man whose colors I don’t see. The only man I don’t understand. Who knows what color are you daddy? I’m Purple, Purple like the thoughts that become words, I’m purple like the sea “
Viola Come Il Mare Episode 1 Chapter 2 starts with Viola thinking while she sits at the table in the street bar writing advert in online advert portal BACHECA Palermo. She thinks about her mother’s words: “Viola, if you make and effort you will succeed, even without a father.” And she was right as Viola graduated, got good jobs, and became adults without him. She is taking her scenery before going back home to her new apartment where she is awaiting removal men who deliver boxes with her belongings.
One of the first things she does is to but a bird box on the terrace awith some seeds to attract local birds. In that moment Francesco walks onto the terrace and asks her what she is doing and when she tells him that she is putting seeds done for birds he ironically answers to her that the only things she will attract is mice. Francesco looks very handsome and when Viola turns around and sees him in his fresh clothes ready for work, she is taken back by how attracted to him she feels, but she soon tries to remind herself silently that he is not the right guy to fall in love with. Francesco continues his teasing but this time about her outfit as Viola is wearing a sports suit which is revealing her beautiful curves. Francesco jokes with her that he has no problem around naked women. Francesco ironically puts cardigan around her shoulders, so he does not feel distracted. Viola asks him how their co-operation starts and yet again Francesco answers that the relationship is quite simple: he is policeman who will do investigation and her journalist who will report on it and that if she discovers something using her synaesthesia she will tell him and as she does not want to have sex with him, in their private lives they will both do what they want. At that point, the story diverts to a discovery of a crime which has taken place the evening before on at the sea front. The next morning random jogger discovers body of a boy on the rocks. In the morning when Viola arrives to work, the team prepares a wanted welcome for her. They took her photos from the time of Miss Italia and made them the screen savers on all the office screens. They tease her about her breasts in the photo. Viola is very annoyed. At the point irritated Claudia comes to tell Viola that there was a crime on Terrasini and to go to deal with it. Demir and Turi are at the crime site. The boy is not dead but seriously injured and was being transferred to hospital. The place of the crime is the same place where 1month ago young student Vittoria Rosi jumped off on the rocks and committed suicide and where the night before her classmates organised a vigil for her. Demir suspects foul play. Viola arrives at the crime scene talking to Tamara about the incident in the office. They come to have a look at the crime scene and when Viola sees the injured boy being transported into the ambulance, she starts to feel unwell. At this point Demir spots her and realises that she does not feel well and come to check if she is ok and helps her a bit. They talked about the crime and that it was attempted murder. Viola and Tamara get ready to depart from the scene to go to hospital when Viola gets message as reply to her advert and before even looking at it gets excited about potentially meeting her father, but it is false alarm. Viola tells Tamara that her father never knew her mother was pregnant with her and that is why he never looked for her. Tamara through her way of talking resonates issues she has between herself and her father. She tells Viola that she decided to stay away from her father. At the hospital, Francesco and Turi arrive to talk to the mother of the boy and his stepfather. They tell them that the boy (Luca) was at student vigil for Vittoria the night before. Police tell the mother that they are investigating attempted murder. The mother is upset but suddenly she changes her emotions when she spots another young teenager walking towards her, stands up and leaves to be by the bedside of her son. The young man is Guliano the son of the stepfather of Luca and hence his stepbrother. The young man has a sort of attitude and the relationships in family are tense. The man explains some issues he has with his son since his mother left and he re-married and that he became
aggressive. He tells Demir that his son spent the night out and Demir suspects that he could be involved in the crime. At that moment, Viola, who is ears dropping nearby with Tamara, interrupts the two men talking with her usual attitude and conclusion. Both Demir and the man is very annoyed and the man especially hen he finds out that Viola is journalist. Demir drags her outside and they argue. Demir really gets annoyed and leaves her there. Viola spots Guliano outside where he is ready to leave on his scooter and come to talk to him. She uses her sinestesia on him and the boy resonates emotions of suffering and loss for his stepbrother. Viola and Tamara talk. Next Demir calls Guliano and with him his stepfather to the police station for interrogation. Police has evidence that someone asked Guliano to come to the location where the crime took the place on the same night, but Guliano denies going there. Prior to this, police gathered evidence from other classmates of Luca, that Luca and Guliano fought few days prior to the crime at school, but Guliano said it was concerning him smoking cannabis. Guliano said that when he arrived at the future crime scene, there was no one there and that he went elsewhere to smoke joint and that there are no witnesses. Viola back in the office is drafting the article and the team yet again teases her with the Miss Italia phots. Claudia comes to ask on the progress on the article and is not pleased with Viola and what she has done so far. Viola receives reply to her ad on the phone and goes to meet a man in the coffee bar, but soon realises that the man does not know anything and only wants reward money. More replies to her add arrive. Viola gets annoyed and leaves. Demir is preparing to leave police station, but before he leaves Turi hands him a flash drive with photos and voice recordings taken during investigation of human trafficking case in port of Palermo called “Open Sea.” Turi does feel uneasy as he has clear instructions from the prosecutor Buscemi that Demir is not to be involved due to the problems he got himself into in the past when he was investigating the case. Demir at home is reviewing voice recordings and photos from the investigation when he is interrupted by food delivery which is however not for him, but for Viola. He takes and brings her the food to her apartment as the key lock for both is the same. He points to her that the food does not look right as it is spleen sandwich, and she is vegetarian. He teases her about not cooking for herself while Viola hands him a washed and iron shirt and tells him that she wants to talk to him. Demir teases her about marriage, but Viola turns the discussion onto serious tone telling him the emotions using sinestesia she saw in Guliano and that according to her he is innocent. Demir asks Viola to come on bike with him and they drive to port. Demir takes her to a hidden spot and asks her to observe couple of workers and tell him what emotions she sees. Viola is reluctant but does it and tells Demir that there is emotion of doubleness… of someone who is hiding something and playing things on both sides and that the man is uncomfortable. It is test prepared by Demir for Viola, but Demir refuses to giver her context of why they are there which Viola really needs to establish what the emotions of the person concerned are. Next Viola goes to Guliano’s home where she sees him playing basketball in the forecourt. She hands him the cigarette she borrowed of him last time when she spoke to him and tells him she is journalist. She speaks to the young man and tells him how he felt last time they spoke and asks him why. She tries to understand how he feels about his father and how the father treats him. They both sit down on the bench and Guliano tells him that his father is violent towards him and shows him a scar on the side just between the ribs and hip and above his Japanese tattoo. He tells Viola that he did this to him during fight. Viola asks and takes photo. Guliano suggests that his father might have started to beat his stepbrother too. At that point Guliano’s father enters from the house and sees his son smoking and talking to Viola, the journalist. He asks Viola to immediately leave and drags his sone indoors.
Later in the evening Demir arrives at his apartment while Viola arrives as well. She uses her own apartment keys and uses them to open Demir’s while he is looking for them in his pockets. He tells her that she can come when she wants, but that he needs warn her that he is often not alone. He asks her to forgive him for how annoyed he was earlier on that day and if she wants Pasta Alla Norma. Viola turns Demir’s offer down saying that she already ordered Sashimi. She leaves him and goes to her own place. While Viola is drafting article, she can hear Demir having fun with a woman in his place. The food she ordered has not arrived and she has nothing in her fridge except yoghurt. She starts drafting article about the crime including the information Guliano told her about his father physically abusing him.
Next morning Viola is putting seeds in the bird house. Demir comes onto the terrace only in his night trousers and in all his morning after fun with female glory. Viola points to him the fact that today he is more naked than she was the previous day. Demir is quite amused by her. Viola is seeking apology from Demir for his behaviour towards her in the port of Palermo, but Demir tells her instead that her sinestesia is only good for discovering who is cheating on whom and that he has other more important things to deal with but Viola tells him that she needs some contexts to understand the emotions she is seeing in people. Viola tells Demir about her suspicion about Guliano’s father being involved in what happened to Luca, but she refuses to tell Demir anything more. When Viola arrives in the news office, she feels all smug about her article she wrote, but Claudia tells her that the article has been denounced by the man concerned, Guliano’s father, and that he has filed a defamation complain. Viola is in trouble because she published the article without Claudia’s approval and because she did not have any proof backing her accusations. Claudia told Viola that the boy made a fool of her and that she must go to fix this with the man she accused otherwise she does not need to come back to work and will be fired. Viola goes to hospital to meet the man and tries to apologize. The man shows her the report showing that his son Guliano had recent operation and he tells her that he lied to her to take revenge on him, because the boy things his mother left him because of him, but that was not true. The mat he never told his sone about a note his mother left before she left him and that it was only because she was purely selfish and wanted life on her own terms.
At the police station, Demir and Turi are reviewing CCTV camera recording they were given, which shows at the time of the crime Guliano smoking joint at completely different place than the crime scene, which rules him out as crime suspect. Demir talks to Prosecutor Buscemi outside the police station about the case when Turin comes running in telling them both that also the footprints do not match. Buscemi pulls Demir and scolds him about the fact that they both blindly followed only the boy as crime suspect and hints that if he finds out that he is also poking his nose at the “Open Sea” human trafficking investigation that he will report him to the Chief Prosecutor and that Demir will be done at police force.
Viola receives another call from “potential father” while in the hospital but this time it sounds much more relevant. Tamara takes Viola to the meeting place, but the man waiting for her shows Viola immediate emotions of excitement and tries to pull on Viola and attacks her. Viola starts to struggle and scream, and Tamara runs to her to help, and they both speed off on the scooter. After they walk through local park and talk. Viola tells Tamara more about sinestesia and that it is an illness and that it can lead to her death, but that she needs to find out what happened to her father first to know what the future holds and if there is a cure. Back at home on the terrace, Viola sees that instead of birds, mice moved into the bird house. She bumps into Demir, and she tells him how Guliano, also him and her ex made fun of her. She tells him what her ex-fiancé did. She tells him that sinestesia is not superpower otherwise she would not be in Palermo looking for clues to find her father and instead she would already know where he is. It is the first time Demir realises that she is in Palermo looking for her father and he quizzes her about it, but Viola does not tell him the whole story and how serious the situation is and that sinestesia is illness and that she might die. Viola thinks that it was her who put Demir in trouble with Buscemi and tries to apologize, but Demir tells her that this is not true and that it was him. Viola tells him about Guliano and his lies about the abuse by his father and shows him the photo of tattoo she took. Demir tells her that Vittoria (the girl who committed suicide) had the same. This connects the two together and Demir realises that there might be another investigation to follow. He goes to talk to Guliano and presses on him. The boy reveals that him and Vittoria were together cheating on her current boyfriend at that time. The police go to investigate into the boyfriend’s house and find Vittoria’s mobile phone, different to the one handed to the police during investigation. The boy tells them that Luca had the phone and that he has spotted him with the phone at the vigil and that he took the phone from him and saw sensitive phones of Vittoria in the chat with a man called Magic who was extorting her. He pressed the Luca and Luca admitted that he was Magic. Following this admission, the boy admitted that in the anger he pushed him and that he fallen over the edge of the
cliff on the rocks. However, Demir explains that Luca was not Magic, but that was his brother Guliano and that he attacked the wrong brother.
Back in the office Viola is searching web for what Guliano’s tattoo means, but suddenly she is interrupted by seeing the news on local TV which reports on the latest developments in the crime case. Viola goes back to the crime scene and there she meets Guliano. She talks to him also about her father and what he hidden from her to ease the resentment Guliano feels towards his father. She tells him that his stepbrother wanted to protect him. When police arrive to arrest Guliano for blackmailing Vittoria over their relationship, Viola tells Demir that it is hard to know that the person who brought you to the world does not care for you, she is referring to her own father. Their conversation is interrupted by Turi who comes to tell them that Luca is out of danger and has woken up from the coma.
Viola goes to hospital and talks to Guliano’s father and is pleased to realise that his father has not given up on his son.
Demir later that evening studies further information and evidence from the “Open Sea” investigation, while Viola in the office take revenge on her silly colleagues and makes prank from the past advert photos they were involved in, in the form of a collage. When she is leaving the office, she bumps into Caludia who just arrived.
Demir at home is reading book, when Viola rings a bell and stends outside with pasta and tomatoes and tells him that she is hungry but that she cannot cook. Demir invites her in and cooks delicious pasta dinner for both. Between both the emotional tension and attraction cut be cut with knife.
Viola takes the opportunity of the positive situation and asks Demir for his help to find her father.
She shows him the photo she has of her mother with orange beetle in the background her father took thirty odd years ago. After dinner Viola goes to bed in her own apartment, and talks to herself saying:
“Because you can grow without father, but I can no longer be without him and because you Francesco, you don’ know that my life is at stake.”
